Just plug it into any MIDI device and use all of its capabilities!
Overview The concept of XY MIDIpad mini is brilliantly simple - control any MIDI device parameters with the touch of your finger. You can control distortion level, echo, VST plugin, KORG Kaoss Pad, DigiTech Whammy pedal inclination, Cubase or any DAW and even the stage lighting. Default devices controllable by XY MIDIpad mini are: - KORG Kaoss Pad 2 and 3 - DigiTech Whammy 4 - any MIDI instrument/synthesizer (notes are sent within the range of one octave) The controller is equipped with LED which provides attractive visual effect during performance. LED is capable of displaying any colour from the RGB colour palette. XY MIDIpad mini is a very user friendly tool. It doesn't require soldering or electronic skills. Each element has its own cable with a plug thanks to which you can hook it up to socket placed on the microcontroller enclosure. The enclosure has screw holes which enable you to mount it inside the guitar body. The cables are very strong and solid so even if you pull them severely they won't get damaged in any way. XY MIDIpad mini is not only working with Kaoss Pad or Whammy, but also enables to control any MIDI device or plugin in applications like Cubase, WaveLab etc. It gives many possibilities in creating your own sound live and in studio. XY MIDIpad mini also sends notes within one octave so you can play any instrument or synth. XY MIDIpad and XY MIDIpad mini differences Both devices offer the same range of features. Size is the only difference. Every element is smaller in XY MIDIpad mini: touch screen, enclosure, hold button and on/off switch. XY MIDIpad fits guitars such as LP, SG and Tele, whereas XY MIDIpad mini is perfect for strat-style guitars. The distance between the bridge and the butt of your guitar should be 78mm or more and the area should be flat. Beneath the touch screen there's XY MIDIpad mini microcontroller. The installation of the controller is precisely described in user's manual. Go to Downloads section for the pdf file with detailed cavity drawing (for luthiers). XY MIDIpad mini installation requires significant woodworking or guitar making knowledge and having appropriate tools. AmpTone Lab cannot be held responsible for any damage to a guitar caused by incorrect kit installation. It is highly recommended to have a professional luthier or repair/custom shop install it for you. It is recommended to have the cavity routed after receiving the kit because of possible touch screen size difference (+/- 1,5mm). The kit: - microcontroller Microcontroller is the core of the XY MIDIpad mini system. It processes the information from touch screen, button and encoder and converts it into MIDI messages. It also controls the LED. Two screws are included, allowing the user to mount the enclosure inside the guitar body. - touch screen It's the main element of XY MIDIpad mini. Finger position points two messages which are sent to a MIDI device (X and Y positions). - hold button It enables to send MIDI information on finger positioning permanently. Thanks to that, the user can focus on playing guitar, while the MIDI messages are being sent. - encoder It allows the user to change the program of currently active device. It is also used to change the channel. Changing the channels is quick and simple and the controller easily works on stage when you need to control many devices. - MIDI socket It is used to connect XY MIDIpad mini to the controlled device. - on/off switch This switch is used to turn the controller on and off. - 9V battery The XY MIDIpad mini system is powered by a standard 9V battery. - frame It is used to mount the touch screen in the guitar. It is mounted on the body with four screws, thanks to which touch screen is stabile. - surface diffusing diodes light It's a plastic surface mounted beneath the touch screen. Thanks to it the LED light diffuse all over the touch screen surface. Connecting all the components does not require soldering. Caution: Installing this product may be impossible without additional process on the instrument. It may be possible to break the instrument if it is installed in force. It is highly recommended to have the professional luthier or repair/custom shop install it for you.
